  • en interesting amps and cabinet from John Mergili

  • recently got me a 5F1 champ cabinet for 10″ speaker from this guy. the quality is great indeed. I’ll update with some pics after I finish the amp inside of the tweed cabinet. a friend is playing his tweed champ with 12″ speaker more than the stock 8″. I’m going to start with WGS 10″ ceramic speaker which came with the cabinet.

  • en a replacement for #47 bulb – #239

  • I’ve been using this 239 bulb after the factory GE #47 bulb went dead. 239 is same 6.3V and the bayonet base is identical to #47. mine came from Westinghouse as I remember. and found more from Tung-sol, Sylvania, Chicago Miniature, and more

239 rated 2.268 watt while 47 is 0.945 watt according to this web page. I’m wondering if I can go with this bulb. but didn’t have an issue yet

and there are sellers have #1847 which is the long-life version of #47 on ebay. even their pricing are fair. it’s a thread about #47 and #1847

  • en Tecumseh

  • Tecumseh, one of the greatest men ever to be born on the American continent. A Native American, war chief and statesman he was essentially a Native American George Washington. He saw his family killed by the white settlers and the soldiers of the new United States of America yet he refused to kill women and children.

Among the tribes, there was no concept of Indians as a group i.e. you were a Shawnee or Mohawk, not an Indian. Indeed, even the whites were seen as “tribes” the British tribe, French tribe, Spanish tribe or, worst of all from their perspective, the American tribe. Tecumseh was a visionary and envisioned a Native American confederacy from the Great Lakes to the Gulf.

He sided with the British in the War of 1812 only to be abandoned after the end of the war. Abandoned to the Americans who destroyed him and his people.

Please note: No nation is all good or all evil. One must acknowledge the failings as well as the successes of a nation to truly understand it.

  • en Question to the Slowbean community. (Stone / rock processing)

  • Hi community, since a long time I’m pondering about two topics that interest me. Stones / rocks and their industrial processing. If I want to cut rocks or slice stones in small pieces I have to use large machines, the energy consumption of such stone cutting machine is way too high for somebody who would just start to cut / slice rock. So, my question is: Do you have any ideas, thoughts or know about eco-friendly techologies which are energy efficient for cutting rocks into small slices? Every input regarding this topic is welcome.

  • en Electro Harmonix germanium overdrive with NKT275

  • I dropped by a friend’s place to pick up my big red bum fuzz and hang around. then I dug this EH germanium OD out of a big plastic box.

I’m not sure what this NTK275 exactly is. but the same one shows up on ebay. and I guess it came from 60’s or 70’s

It’s the pile I dug out my bum fuzz and this germanium OD. I know few more guys with the same symptom. falling in love with fuzz pedals. don’t worry. some of them have wives or girlfriends. not all of them of course.

  • en Belden E3462-C cord makes my tweed amps dead quiet

  • needed a longer AC cord for my 5D3 and tried E3462-C cord. this cord noticeably reduces noise even while it has more amps and computers share the same AC and audio source.

then I replaced all the AC cord with this for my tweed amps. the most dramatic change comes to ’59 5F1 which was quiet alone but it cannot be hooked up with AB box. even 60hz hum was loud when it shared the same AC power source without AB box. ground lift didn’t work either. it just shifted the noise frequency

this seller has the cable. but, only one of three was correct. two of them were E3462 without C. they are metal shielded and the noise was louder than 2 prong cord.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-CPU-Power-Cord-Cable-SVT-E-3462-C-LL-30830/253801406241

found another seller had the correct cable. and finally all of my tweed amps are dead quiet at any circumstance with E3462-C. even there is no difference between the original and modern 5F1 with or without the center tab.

and this typical ac cord wasn’t that bad for 5D3 but there is a huge difference with 5F1. E3462-C is still way better for 5D3 as well.
