i’ve got this les paul tv yellow a couple of weeks ago.

it has very nice tone saturation and the ranges of volume control.

very simple control with playability, of course the design is simple too.

i checked the serial number as I learned through the wikipedia. it has made at ’83 when gibson company shifted kalamazoo to nashville before they established historic / customshop line.

replaced the stock ceramic cap with sprague black beauty capacitor right after I got this beauty. and this les paul sounds way better than before with the sustain.

lucky strike it is.

Such a beautiful axe! Needs some restoration, right?

on April 5, 2019

oh sorry that I didn’t catch up early

yes, such a beautiful axe it is.

no restoration in my mind. it already got a whole setup by a guitar tech. and the tone capacitor has replaced.
might need something like a re-fret job after a few years. but not now.
it’s ready to rock!
thanks for your concern buddy.

Yes, maybe it’s the best to leave it as it is and just to preserve the sound.

on April 6, 2019

yes the musical instruments are alive like the animals and people. they age by themselves. we mostly do less as we can for it except playing.

I’m fixing my amplifiers and for friends as well. and doing my best to keep them as they are

  • en Electro Harmonix germanium overdrive with NKT275

  • I dropped by a friend’s place to pick up my big red bum fuzz and hang around. then I dug this EH germanium OD out of a big plastic box.

I’m not sure what this NTK275 exactly is. but the same one shows up on ebay. and I guess it came from 60’s or 70’s

It’s the pile I dug out my bum fuzz and this germanium OD. I know few more guys with the same symptom. falling in love with fuzz pedals. don’t worry. some of them have wives or girlfriends. not all of them of course.

  • recently got me a 5F1 champ cabinet for 10″ speaker from this guy. the quality is great indeed. I’ll update with some pics after I finish the amp inside of the tweed cabinet. a friend is playing his tweed champ with 12″ speaker more than the stock 8″. I’m going to start with WGS 10″ ceramic speaker which came with the cabinet.

  • en Yokomo CVD bones

  • This post would be a help. but it seems impossible to get them unless you guys push MIP to make them again.

Yokomo YZ10, Works, and 870C universal drives info

it’s the basic info for Yokomo CVD bones
    ’94 YZ10 front CVD bone 84mm
    ’94 YZ10 rear CVD bone 79mm
    MX4 rear CVD bone 79mm

    Kysho RB5/RB6 70mm CVD bones work for 870C F/R

MX4 rear bone works with ’94 YZ10 rear. and, Works F/R
’94 YZ10 rear bone works with Works F/R. and, for 870C front wide setup
Bj4 front bone doesn’t work for Yokomo diff cups

    ’94 YZ10 front

    from the top, MX4 Rear / ’94 YZ10 Rear / Jconcpets BJ4 front.

the length are identical to each other. but the head pins are not. I’ve tried more CVD bones from AE and Losi. and all the US brand CVD bones have bigger head pins which don’t fit Yokomo diff cups

While the length is identical, Bj4 CVD bone don’t work for Yokomo diff cups

’94 yz10 cvd bones go deep inside of the diff

MX4 bones have longer head pins. it’s fine except for 870C

  • en Monday’s Thoughts …

  • It’s Monday, the weekend is over and I’m glad another day has almost finished. The days now get longer and time flies by so incredibly fast that I feel I am getting old too quick. What have I done with my life the past few years? How does it come that I end up like a wooden shipwreck on the ocean’s bottom? I don’t know. But asking myself this question every morning when I get up from this old uncomfortable mattress. So tired that I wish I could sleep forever and not waking up again. Yes, it feels exactly like this.

Last year I lost simply everything, car, insurances, my small apartment including furniture and all other stuff due of being too kind to somebody who took advantage of me. I am not highly educated nor skilled in professions, that’s why I’ve had worked my entire life so far, since I am 15, as laborer on construction sites. Could not build up savings. Now with 34 years my back, hands and knees are done from this work. Had to move to my mother’s & sister’s apartment for a short time, both had to move to my sister’s father because of his disability he needed help in his everyday life.

So, I was homeless almost three months at the beginning of this year. Slept in basements or abandoned buildings. What a terrible experience this was you can imagine for yourself. Now I have a small room for the nights and have to share the place where I am currently with others. Constantly seeking for small job gigs in this rural area, which is almost impossible because of no industry and demographic issues. Have been searching for help the past few months without any success. The truth is, I could ask all eight billion people on this planet, but no one would give me the needed help to end this nightmare. Which is understandable of course.

What can you do when you need help but there is no one who’s listening, no friends, since they left due of my situation, family has their own issues and cannot be of a help, if there is no solution? You accept this after a time, and just hope that someday in the near future all ends, and then you can sleep for eternity. It shouldn’t sound negative or sad but at this point I am no longer able to look forward. I do not see any future.

My only and probably last solution is moving to the next bigger city. Could work there as car painter and even make some good salary. But I cannot simply move or rent a small apartment, since I have nothing to go there. No savings to pay rental deposit, or to get a few pieces of furniture, to ride out the first few weeks until getting paid. No one will help you when you are in such situation as I am now, but I understand this totally. I have tried long enough to find somebody who is able to lend me a small loan for this move to a better future. It’s not about a handout, because I want to pay it back. It’s also about ending a nightmare and starting a new life, this is what organisations or banks do not understand.

So, I simply accept the fact that my life is done. Let’s be honest.. There is no option, any help or magic force that will grant you a wish. Life or the world in generally is not like this. I am not sad or depressive, because I have accepted my destiny and unfortunately we cannot change our destiny. I will be happy again when all has ended, and I can finally sleep. For eternity.

  • en tweed princeton 5D2 came back to life

  • I came across this tweed princeton a couple of days ago. it had more than few issues with the pots, electrolytic caps, wires, grounding, input jacks and one of the resistors.

and it sounds beautiful like a win instrument with the new components.

  • en Yokomo MR-4BX

  • MR-4BX series has been produced for only a couple of years. the first version came at ’06 and replaced with B-Max4 which was different from previous yoke buggies at ’08.

MR-4BX series is like the last blood of traditional Yokomo to me. and I see the same blood on Jconcepts BJ4.

a few prototypes on Japanese magazines were not far from MX-4 YMP until 2004. they put a slipper clutch, moved the motor mount forward, put B4 rear arms and losi style steering knuckles, and so on.. through early ’06
my friend who has been working with Yokomo and other japanese rc companies told me their CNC machine was never stopped for a couple of years to make new prototype parts. I know it never stopped before MR-4BX. but more than a few MR-4BX prototypes have spotted on Yatabe arena for years.

I have managed to get a nicely used Worlds edition last month. and took some pics with my factory edition. they both came at ’07.

the differences between them are main chassis, F/R shock towers, top deck(s), steering, rear bulkhead, and a few misc parts

    Front End

MR-4BX Worlds came with a new camber mount which allows only the longest upper rod setup. also the steering is different than previous 2 versions

this new camber mount can be installed on older versions as well

the original and Factory edition’s front tower provide 6 points of upper rod mount position. the tower is compatible with the original through Worlds. and the inside position provides pretty much same result as Worlds’ front camber mount

    Steering

the steerings are quite different. I hope I can feel the difference while I’m running this Worlds edition. but, didn’t have a chance so far.

this steering was introduced with MX-4. prototype MX-4 still had older servo saver. and the first time I saw this was in MX-4 kit.

but the difference is the angle. this steering system on MR-4BX is tilted for better handling.

    Chassis

this 2 piece structure was came from the prototype and applied to the production models through the 1st and Factory edition. but Worlds edition came with 1 piece chassis

MR-4BX Worlds came with this 1 piece chassis with 2 extra holes for new steering system. please ignore the stainless screws on the Factory chassis. I’d go back to the black steel screws.

    Top Deck

the top deck, now it covers the rear belt. and new camber mount is here

Factory edition had 2 piece top deck like the original version. but the rear piece was improved that older one has clearance problem with the belt

the rear top deck from the ’06 original version

    Rear Shock Mounting

there were a few guys tried this before Worlds edition came. the shocks were moved to the back end of the car.

also they put a camber mount like the front end

the original and Factory edition had same suspension geometry. the shocks can be moved to the back end with this stock mount plus a few tricks

the new aluminum part which holds the the shock tower is changed along with new bulkhead and camber mount
