en 50’s Jensen P12R and P12N output power – from tdpri.com

found this nice and old datasheet probably was a part of the Jensen brochure. and it’s great to see the exact output of the 50’s Jensen speakers. P12R was the stock speaker for tweed deluxe. and now I can see why it came with tweed deluxe. btw, P12R and P12Q share the same bell cover. and you cannot install P12N and P12P with the bell in tweed deluxe because of the size.

P12R = 12watt

P12N = 18watt

and, this thread in the same forum says

P12Q = 14watt

P12P = 16watt

    the voicing of stock 8″ speaker is quite different to 50’s Oxford 8EV. I guess this stock speaker came from Oxford as well but I could be wrong.

    I replaced the stock 25uf 25v power tube cathode bypass cap to 47uf.

    it came with stock Amperex buggle boy which is still alive and kicking and GE 6v6gt. only the rectifier tube has replaced at some point.

    stock speaker is on the right side.

  • en the only long plate 12ax7 I like with 5F1, Tung-Sol

  • I’ve tried a few long plate 12ax7 tubes like black plate RCA, one of the common Telefunken, gray plate Sylvania with copper grid posts, and this one. Telefunken sounds great with 5D3 but ain’t good with my original and recent 5F1 amps.

    this Tung Sol sounds like Telefunken with a modern 5F1 has Heyboer HTS-12005 PT. this PT’s B+ is over 400V with usual 5y3gt tubes. and this 12ax7 sounds great with the original 5F1 to me. grabbed off Reverb.com for $24

  • en NOS Astron Blue point aka. yellow mustard capacitors

  • they were on ebay and the price was not bad. it was pretty good actually. these .02uf 600v 50’s Astron Blue point capacitors are for my original and project 5F1 champ amps. two of them for the 5F1 project. and the rest of them for the original ’59 5F1 champ in a case I need to replace them like 50 years from now.

  • en 2.2″ front wheels and axles for RC10

  • I got myself this front axle mod idea from rc10talk.com forum when I wanted to put Yokomo 2.2″ wheels on my RC10 runners a couple of years ago. Associated #7222 axles are everything actually. there are not much left to do except for getting the axles if you want to use B4 or JC rulux wheels

    longer axle on the right side is ASC7222 that makes you can use none-offset wheels like B4’s, Yoke 4WD’s, and more

    Yokomo made TH-1 wheel adapters for RC10. early TH-1 came with front adapters as well. but later TH-1 didn’t

    I had managed to get a set of front hubs. but needed more. and got another set from a trick with Ultima hubs.

    got this after I trimmed the each side of Ultima front hub from TH-8 package above. the diameter is “slightly” larger for 3/16″ bearings. but the tiny play (gap) was fixed with Loctite. then I’v been using the hubs without a issue

  • en 40’s Ken-Rad 6v6GT/G is louder than RCA, GE, Sylvania 6v6GT

  • while my 5F1 project is not loud enough with Jensen 10J11 speaker, I tried a few different 6v6 tubes for the last few days.

    I noticed Ken-Rad 6v6GT/G tubes are louder than the other tubes. and the texture with this tube is acoustic and strong.

    I don’t see the difference between RCA, GE, and Sylvania 6v6gt tubes that much. GE Canada 6v6GT is a bit brighter than 50’s stock tweed RCA and 60’s Sylvania but, Ken-Rad 6v6GT/G sounds way different to them

  • en FLASHBACK FRIDAY: The Successes of Yokomo – LiveRC

  • Many new generation R/C car racers recognize Yokomo for making its name after Ryan Maifield won the 2017 IFMAR World Championships in both 2wd and 4wd, but little do they know, Yokomo has been winning races around the globe for over 30 years. For this week’s Flashback Friday we revisit some of Yokomo’s earliest successes in the world of off-road.

  • en a friend’s beautiful Les Paul

  • all the black plastic parts have changed with vintage correct white ones. this Joe Bonamassa burst #70 has beautiful top and dark back with ’59 profile neck and Burstbucker #2 and #3. the orignal 50’s burst Les Paul guitars mostly had 7.5k to 8.4k pickups and many of them had hotter ones on the neck position.

    Gibon’s burstbucker was made after the original PAF pickups which had unbalanced bobbins. I’d put #3 on the neck and #2 on the bridge. personally the best PAF replica was Timbucker from Tim white I got at 2003 with my Brazilian freboard 59 historic. and, at the time a few friends on Lespaulforum.com tried Seymour Duncan Custmop Shop PAF replicas and it was a great pleasure to listen them.

    The same Duncan Custom shop PAF pickups are coming for this Les paul. and I believe he’d love them over burstbucker pickups

    more vintage correct parts like truss rod cover and square jack plate are coming as well.

  • en Yokomo CVD bones

  • This post would be a help. but it seems impossible to get them unless you guys push MIP to make them again.

    Yokomo YZ10, Works, and 870C universal drives info

    it’s the basic info for Yokomo CVD bones
    ’94 YZ10 front CVD bone 84mm
    ’94 YZ10 rear CVD bone 79mm
    MX4 rear CVD bone 79mm

    Kysho RB5/RB6 70mm CVD bones work for 870C F/R

    MX4 rear bone works with ’94 YZ10 rear. and, Works F/R
    ’94 YZ10 rear bone works with Works F/R. and, for 870C front wide setup
    Bj4 front bone doesn’t work for Yokomo diff cups

    ’94 YZ10 front

    from the top, MX4 Rear / ’94 YZ10 Rear / Jconcpets BJ4 front.

    the length are identical to each other. but the head pins are not. I’ve tried more CVD bones from AE and Losi. and all the US brand CVD bones have bigger head pins which don’t fit Yokomo diff cups

    While the length is identical, Bj4 CVD bone don’t work for Yokomo diff cups

    ’94 yz10 cvd bones go deep inside of the diff

    MX4 bones have longer head pins. it’s fine except for 870C
