Needed to see the B44.3 chassis to make a new chassis for this project. got the chassis along with the original Bj4 chassis. it’s the first time to see the original version. and I can see the wheelbase is identical to Bj4 worlds edition.
B44.3 chassis is 4mm longer than B44’s. but still the Bj4 and B44 bodies fit the chassis. the structure is different for the front and rear bulkheads. Bj4 was built with Nitro TC3 parts. and B44 series has it’s own bulkheads and tranny, diff cups and more
you can check the wheelbase here
And, the under tray came from B44.2 Bulldog body set from Pro-line
With some original Bj4 parts from Jconcepts, AE, and Losi
This update has done a couple of years ago. and, I noticed I haven’t updated the pictures. here they are
And, the leftover stock parts from BJ4 and B44
I wonder, did anybody already try to mount a high-def camera on these cars and connect it with a VR headset. And then you could drive like in a 1st person perspective from a video game. But I suppose the weight of the camera + extra battery will make the model slower?
never tried big bore shocks on the track yet. all the runners I got here are from 80’s and 90’s
and it’s the first one with big bore shocks
the first plan with the socks was this. strip, anodize, then this teflon spray and baking
the plan has changed after I saw this picture from AE, then ordered the front shock bodies which were only available at the time
shocks are done, and I’m going to a new chassis for saddle / shorty battery conversion like B44.3 does.
new center brace coming from Jconcepts along with B44.3 ceter diff. but I’m not sure Bj4 aluminium center shafts fit the B44.3 diff cups yet. the aluminium shaft head is slightly bigger than steel shaft’s
I’m working with a friend for the new chassis. will update in a few weeks.
this Bj4.3 will have
0. Front / Rear center shaft swap
1. new custom chassis for B44.3 motor mount
2. new top decks
3. new battery holders from b44.3 with epoxy battery straps
and here are the wheelbase info for Bj4 and B44 series. I need them for the new chassis
Bj4 278mm (10.94″)
B44 280mm (11.02″)
B44.1 276mm (10.87″) – the shortest
B44.2 284mm (11.18″)
B44.3 284mm (11.18″)
[update from July 7th 2015]
got the center diff, and now can see the new wheelbase of the chassis
the motor mount itself is 6mm wider than Bj4’s. but the difference of the diff cups are only 4mm.
the under tray has 2mm margin, so I need to cut the backend.
the body has 3mm margin between the under tray, so still can use the body
the lenght is identical for B44 and Bj4 bodies.
it’s time to make a new chassis along with the top decks
I saw this nice thread from RC10talk which is the best place for RC10 lovers
and I got this BJ4 from a friend to copy Dhood’s B44. and found some old stuff here
I’ll keep update this post
a quick update from April 28th. thanks to the rc10talk members
another update from May 6th. on the progress
I have disassembled two packs of Yokomo Ni-MH 3800 batteries, then they are on the matching process. the batteries were sleeping for 7 to 8 years, and some of them are still alive
I want to finish the electronics before I send the aluminium parts for anodize. the receiver replaced with 27Mhz to match Mars R which has 27Mhz module
I’m trying some B44.3 parts for this project. let’s see what happens next
